DENVER (CBS4)– A man has been formally charged in a cold case sexual assault dating back nearly a decade.

Isaias Villa has been charged with two counts of sexual assault.

The charges allege that in August 2006, Villa took a 14-year-old girl to a party where she became intoxicated and then he took her to his home and sexually assaulted her.

The case was unsolved until Villa, 30, was identified as a suspect through a DNA match last November.

Villa was already in custody on an unrelated matter and remains in custody on $50,000 bond. He is scheduled to appear in Denver County Court on March 29 to be advised of the charges.
