Best Snowboarders In The World In Colorado For Burton U.S. Open
VAIL, Colo. (CBS4)- The best snowboarders in the world are in Colorado this week for the Burton U.S. Open.
"(Half) pipe is unreal, best of the season," Shaun White told CBS4 moments after securing his first place finishing heading into the finals at the Burton U.S. Open on Thursday.
The event marks one of the last major snowboarding competitions of season so athletes like White are throwing everything they've got.
"Seeing someone else at the competition do something that I want to do really motivates me and I can't get that motivation anywhere else outside of competition," White said.
White skipped the XGames in Aspen this year, so for local fans this was their first chance to the see the Olympic legend back at work. White plans on not only competing in the halfpipe but also slope style event, which was postponed Wednesday due to high winds.
He's been coming to the Burton U.S. Open since he was just a preteen.
"I am always looking forward to this and it's just really great to be back here competing."
