RTD Offers Free Light Rail, Bus Service Because Of Broncos Rally Delays

DENVER (CBS4)- Because of the massive demand and huge crowds in downtown Denver for the Broncos Super Bowl victory rally, RTD is offering free rides on light rail and buses on Tuesday.

The free rides will continue until 8 p.m. on Tuesday. RTD admitted they were having trouble keeping up with the demand.

Riders are urged to go to the Colorado Convention Center or Union Station to get in and out of downtown because of the massive crowds and road closures. No other RTD stops in downtown will be serviced during the parade and rally.

The light rail is not running from the Convention Center to downtown or Five Points. Trains are running in and out of Union Station and the Colorado Convention Center.

The buses and trains have reached maximum capacity. In order to celebrate the Broncos victory and ensure that all riders make it to their destination safely, RTD has waived all fees for light rail and bus services until 8 p.m. Tuesday.

One CBS4 viewer said there were hundreds of people in line at the 120th and Huron station who waited for two hours to get downtown for the rally and parade but never made it.
