Folsom Field To Host First Rock Concert In 15 Years

BOULDER, Colo. (CBS4) - The psychedelic rock band Dead & Company will perform two shows at Folsom Field in Boulder this summer.

It's the first time the Colorado Buffaloes football stadium has been the setting for a rock concert since 2001, according to the University of Colorado.

The Dead & Company shows will take place on Saturday, July 2 and Sunday, July 3.

Dead & Company consists of three surviving members of the Grateful Dead, plus rocker John Mayer. The roster features Bob Weir and Mayer on guitar and vocals, Oteil Burbridge on bass, Jeff Chimenti on keyboards and original Dead drummers Mickey Hart and Bill Kreutzmann.

The group formed last year after the successful Fare The Well 50th anniversary concerts of the Grateful Dead. They played two shows in late November at 1stBank Center in Broomfield.

Folsom Field was host to many stadium rock concerts in the 1970s and 1980s. That included the Grateful Dead, who performed there in 1980.

Tickets go on sale on Friday.
