Although He Can't Play, Omar Bolden Taking Full Advantage Of Super Bowl Week

SAN FRANCISCO (CBS4) - It's a bittersweet Super Bowl Week for Broncos safety Omar Bolden. His season ended with an injury but at least he's in warm California instead of snowy and cold Denver.

Bolden was with the Broncos two years ago, so he's experience Super Bowl mania before. But he told CBS4's Kelly Werthmann he's already enjoying it more than he did last time.

Bolen is from Ontario, California, but he had never traveled north to San Francisco before. So on Wednesday Bolden grabbed his camera for some sightseeing in San Francisco and was nice enough to let Werthmann tag along.

"It's beautiful, it's my first time here, I've always wanted to see the Golden Gate Bridge," Bolden said.

He said he's bummed he can't play in the game but being able to come along with the team on the trip is still special.

"I want more than anything to be on the field with my teammates, but injuries are kind of out of a player's control. No player wants to get injured," he said. "I think it is cool that I'm able to take advantage of the free time that I have and explore the city and just enjoy myself."

Werthmann told Bolden that he looked like the typical tourist with his camera and backpack and asked him if he always travels like that.

"Obsolutely, yeah, when I go to new cities, especially things that I haven't seen before, I'm going to capture every moment," he replied.

With a top-of-the-line camera and a jaw-dropping view, Bolden makes capturing the moment look easy.

"You've got to adjust the lenses for different shots ... there's so much more you can do with these cameras."

He said he looks to capture anything that catches his eye.

"Things that I haven't seen, things that look pretty to me."

Between the iconic Golden Gate Bridge, the historic Alcatraz prison and shoreline views, there was plenty to catch the eye -- but then Bolden's eye caught an enemy by The Bay -- a tourist with a Panther's shirt on.

"Are your pictures better than his?" Werthmann asked Bolden.

"Yeah, and my shirt is too," he replied.

Before leaving the City by the Bay, there was only one thing left to do.

"Let's selfie!" Werthmann said.

Now isn't that a San Francisco treat.

"This is exactly what I expected … I love this place," Bolden said.
