Boulder Police Warn Of Possible 'Tribal Meeting' As Ruse For Men To Commit Sexual Assault

BOULDER, Colo. (CBS4) - Police in Boulder have released a warning for people to avoid a possible "meetup" that might be a ruse for men to commit sexual assault.

According to Shannon Cordingly, a spokesperson for the Boulder Police Department, police became aware of an "International Meetup Day" scheduled to take place at 8 p.m. on Saturday at North Boulder Park.

In a statement, Cordingly said the information was posted on a website called The Return of the Kings.

"The website describes the 'meetup date' as a 'tribal meeting' for men only. There is concern that this event may be a ruse to commit sexual assault," Cordingly said in the statement. "We have no information that this will actually take place but we recommend that no one, men or women, attend this meetup."

Cordingly said officers will be on hand to monitor the possible event.
