SANTA CLARA, Calif. (The Sports Xchange) – Super Bowl 50 is more than a hot ticket, it’s a record-setter on the secondary market as of Monday.
The average price for a ticket to the Super Bowl in Santa Clara, Calif., on Feb. 7 is $5,335 on SeatGeek, according to company content analyst Chris Leyden.
Leyden said the cheapest seat at Levi’s Stadium was $3,000 and prices for the best seats in the house near midfield were over $7,000. About 28 percent of the tickets purchased on the secondary market were bought by California residents, Leyden said, and 10 percent were North Carolinians.
The day of the conference championship games last year, tickets for Super Bowl XLIX in Glendale, Ariz., were going for $4,271 on SeatGeek.
However, interest overwhelmed the market in the days leading up to the game and several sites were forced to back out of ticket sales agreements, leaving many fans who traveled to Arizona with no ticket.
