Owner Of Dog That Was Shot By Officer Gets $262,500 From Commerce City, Largest Ever
COMMERCE CITY, Colo. (CBS4) - Commerce City will pay more than $250,000 to a family whose dog was killed by a police officer.
Chloe, a lab-pit bull mix, was shot in November 2012 after police responded to a call of a dog on the loose. The police officer that fired the shots was charged with felony aggravated cruelty to animals but a jury found him not guilty.
The verdict prompted a lawsuit by Chloe's owner, Gary Branson. On Monday CBS4 confirmed the city reached a settlement with Branson for $262,500.
