Business Is Brisk For Stores Selling Broncos Gear

DENVER (CBS4) - A steady stream of shoppers have been coming into stores like Sports Authority and Dick's Sporting Goods on Monday looking to get Broncos gear after Sunday's big win.

The Broncos defeated the Patriots in the AFC Championship game, and Denver fans can now buy T-shirts, hats and more celebrating the win that launched the team to Super Bowl 50.

At noon at Sports Authority in downtown Denver a few key sizes of some of the AFC Champions shirts were gone, but there were still plenty of other items to pick from.

"We're going to be pretty loaded with merchandise. Super excited about the win, I'm going to be happy to see the Broncos pull it off," said Sports Authority store manager Andrew Swenson after Sunday's game.

CBS4 interviewed one Broncos fan who was shopping for Broncos apparel on Monday morning who had been to the game and screamed so loudly for her team that she mostly lost her voice.

"I came all the way from Texas to watch my Broncos win," said Kristi Rhodes said. "I used to live here and I was on the wait list and finally got season tickets after I moved back to Texas."

Swenson said things were a little hectic for his staff during the fourth quarter on Sunday when it wasn't clear if the Broncos were going to be able to hold their lead over New England.

"It comes down to the line," he said. "There's a lot of planning, a lot of strategy that goes into it, depending on a win, or a loss."

"We can't put this merchandise out to the floor unless the Broncos actually win."

The AFC Championship game was anticipated to bring in a $10 million economic boost to Denver's economy.
