Another Report On The Arapahoe High Shooting To Be Released Thursday

LITTLETON, Colo. (CBS4) - Leaders with the Littleton School Board will hear from experts on Thursday about a new report on the shooting at Arapahoe High School in 2013.

The new report comes just days after another report was released on the shooting. The public release of all of the information was prompted by the parents of victim Claire Davis and their drive to ensure it never happens again.

A study released on Monday found the district could have better responded to the shooting three years ago. The report says the shooting may have been prevented. It says high school leaders dismissed warning signs troubled student Karl Pierson was a threat. He killed one of his classmates, 17-year-old Davis, before taking his own life.

The 141-page report from the University of Colorado went on to say the school needed to keep more detailed and easy-to-access records on 18-year-old Pierson. Tracking the concerns some had over him may have let someone stop him from coming into school back in December of 2013 with a shotgun, machete and homemade bombs.

The experts releasing the new report are expected to before the Board of Education at 4 p.m.
