Antonio Smith: Tom Brady's 'Going To Cry About Getting Hit'

DENVER (CBS4) - Let the jabs begin.

Denver Broncos defensive lineman Antonio Smith thinks Tom Brady tends to be a little more vocal about his complaints to the referees than other quarterbacks.

"Oh Brady … I think he's a great competitor, you know. He knows it's coming," Smith said of the New England Patriots QB. "He's going to cry about getting hit, but he'll take the hit and still get up and keep going."

Smith, who had one of the Broncos three sacks during Sunday's 23-16 win over the Steelers, told reporters in the locker room Monday that he always sees Brady looking to the referees after he gets sacked.

"He looks at the ref like 'You see him sack me? Was that supposed to happen? He did it a little hard. Please throw a 15-yard penalty on him. And get him fined,'" said Smith.

Smith and his teammates on the defensive line have what former Bronco and ESPN analyst Mark Schlereth thinks will be a key role in next Sunday's matchup.

Schlereth said on CBS4 Sunday night that Brady has a history of struggling in the middle of the pocket when facing defensive pressure, and the defensive line needs to "get him off his spot on a consistent basis."

Despite some trash talk, Smith knows trying to stop Brady is a tall order.

"That man is automatic. You're not going to rattle him just because you hit him hard or sack him. I've tried over the years," he said.
