Manning Hands Demaryius Thomas Football, Says 'Give This To Mom'

DENVER (CBS4) - As the clock wound down at the end of Sunday's game at Sports Authority Field at Mile High, Broncos quarterback Peyton Manning took the final snap and handed the ball to his teammate Demaryius Thomas.

He told the wide receiver "Give this to your mom," according to an NFL Facebook post.

It was a special day for Thomas and his mom, Katina Smith. Smith was in attendance for one of her son's Broncos games for the first time on Sunday. She was released from a federal prison in Florida last summer when President Barack Obama commuted the sentences of 46 non-violent drug offenders.

After her release from a Georgia halfway house in November, she had a 60-day travel restriction that kept her from attending any games during the regular season.

Restriction liftes, on Sunday she was in the stands, wearing a custom Demaryius Thomas jersey.

After the Broncos 23-16 win over the Steelers, Thomas told reporters in the locker room he was eager to meet up with his mother and talk about the game.

"Mom didn't put no pressure on me. There wasn't no pressure of having her here. I was just excited she was here for her first game and we came out with a win to make it even better," he said.

And the odds seem good Smith will only have to wait a week to watch her son in action again.

"She's happy, we're happy ... Hopefully she can come out next week," Thomas said.

The Broncos will face the Patriots on Sunday at 1:05 p.m.
