Cameron Pass Closed For 24 Hours Due To Avalanche Danger

LARIMER COUNTY, Colo. (CBS4)- Cameron Pass was closed on Sunday afternoon for at least 24 hours due to avalanche danger.

A 35-mile stretch of Cameron Pass, on Highway 14 west of Fort Collins, was closed from mile marker 63 to mile marker 78 because of the potential for avalanches.

The Colorado Department of Transportation closed the pass about 2 p.m. Sunday. The pass is expected to remain closed until at least Monday afternoon.

The Colorado Avalanche Information Center said there were strong westerly winds drifting large amounts of snow in the area and that human-triggered avalanches are likely.
