Judge Refuses To Unseal Planned Parenthood Shooting Documents

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (AP) - A judge has refused for now to unseal details of the case against Colorado Springs Planned Parenthood shooter Robert Lewis Dear.

Judge Gilbert A. Martinez said Wednesday it's too early in the case to unseal search and arrest warrants, but he'll reconsider the issue later.

The Associated Press and other media outlets asked that the documents be made public, saying there was no reason to keep the information sealed in the Nov. 27 shooting in Colorado Springs that killed three people and wounded nine others.

Prosecutors have charged the 57-year-old Dear with 179 counts of crimes including first-degree murder, attempted murder and assault.

During a court appearance, Dear declared himself "a warrior for the babies" and said he was guilty. Martinez ordered Dear to undergo a competency exam after he said he wanted to represent himself in the case.
