Suspect Accused Of Shooting Officer Led Police On Chase 3 Years Ago
BRIGHTON, Colo. (CBS4) - A man who exchanged gunfire with police officers in Northglenn earlier this month is now facing charges of attempted first-degree murder.
Adrian Moya, 23, is now facing that charge as well as assault and possession of a weapon by a felon. He made his first court appearance on Monday and will be back in court on Wednesday, according to the 17th Judicial District Attorney's office. He's being held on a $500,000 bond.
Investigators say Moya fired on police officers when they made a traffic stop early in the morning on the Dec. 19. One officer was hit several times but was wearing a bullet-proof vest and sustained only minor injuries.
He returned fire, shooting the suspect, who was hospitalized.
Moya has multiple arrests on his record, and was sentenced for driving under the influence after a 2012 police chase in Aurora.
Moya was 19 at the time of that chase.
