DENVER (CBS4) - The long waits in the security lines at Denver International Airport aren't abating as the holiday season winds down, but the airport is employing some tactics for keeping travelers calm.

On Sunday a CBS4 crew found a trumpet player performing in the Jeppesen Terminal.

Joshua Trinidad, a Denver musician, told CBS4 he enjoys seeing the diversity of people in the airport.

While he was playing on Sunday he said he has seen a wide range of emotions in the terminal.

"I've heard some roars from people that have arrived and I've seen some tears. It's kind of interesting to play for a mixed crowd, and find the perfect music for that," he said.

DIA has been paying Trinidad to play on and off over the past week, and this is his fourth year of playing at the airport during the holidays. At one point this year he says he had an audience of children come up to listen to him perform.

Trinidad said he hopes his music gives people a chance to reflect on their travels during what is often a hectic time.

In addition to musical entertainment, DIA officials also offer what they call their Canine Airport Therapy Squad. As part of that program, therapy dogs "roam the concourses for travelers to pet, hug and relax with before takeoff."
