Officers Search For Deputy Impersonator In Weld County

GREELEY, Colo. (CBS4)- The Weld County Sheriff's Office is warning residents about a man posing as a deputy.

Multiple people have called the sheriff to report a man who calls himself Ed or Mike Harris who claims to be a deputy with the Weld County Sheriff's Office. He is asking people to send him money by money order or prepaid credit card.

If you or anyone you know receives a call like this from (970) 210-4596, please call our non-emergency number at (970) 356-4015 to report it. Do not give this individual any money.

Anyone with information regarding this or any other crime is asked to call the Weld County Sheriff's Office at 970-356-4015 or Northern Colorado Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477) or 1-800-444-3776. Tips can also be submitted through the Crime Stoppers website at www.crimeshurt.com. Those submitting tips through Crime Stoppers that lead to the arrest and filing of charges on a suspect(s) may be eligible for a cash reward of up to $2,000 from Crime Stoppers.
