Stormy Christmas Week Good For Skiers, May Pose Tough Times For Colorado Travelers

By Chris Spears

DENVER (CBS4) - An active week of weather is in store for the northwestern part of the country and that includes much of Colorado.

A series of storm systems will travel along the jet stream between now and Christmas and each one will bring a chance for snow.

The first will start to impact western Colorado by late Sunday morning.

    The bad news...

  • there will be more clouds than sunshine which will make it feel cooler
  • mountain travel could be tough at times
  •

While we expect the most unsettled weather to stay in the high country over the next several days, Denver may see the occasional rain or snow shower as these systems pass through.

But that could all change depending on how far south each storm system travels.

Some computer forecast models show the potential for a larger storm to move through Colorado late on Christmas night and into Saturday.

If that pans out we could see the threat for accumulating snow return to the Denver forecast.
