NEDERLAND, Colo. (CBS4) – A body has been found at Barker Meadow Reservoir near Nederland after a car was found upside down in the frozen water.

According to the Boulder County Sheriff’s Office, just after 8 a.m. they received a call from a person who reported seeing the car. When an officer arrived a red 2009 Chevrolet was found upside down and partially submerged.

“The officer did not see any footprints leading away from the vehicle, nor were they able to see anyone in the vehicle,” Heidi Prentup with the sheriff’s office said in a statement.

Divers searched the reservoir for the possible driver. Later a body of male was found across the lake from the car. According to Josh Lewis with the Colorado State Patrol, investigators are assuming the body is that of the driver.

Troopers are still working to confirm the identify the man but believe they know.

Lewis said there are no indications there were any passengers in the car.

There were no preliminary findings that speed or alcohol were involved.
