High Winds Develop Tonight West Of Denver, Gusts May Top 50 MPH

By Chris Spears

DENVER (CBS4) - Warm westerly winds will stream into Colorado for much of the week ahead and at times some of those gusts will likely be between 40-60 mph in the Front Range mountains and foothills.

High winds will develop Sunday into Monday with a second round of wind expected late Monday into Tuesday.

Some of the higher gusts will come from those spots that are typically windy, such as Golden and Boulder and the higher elevations of northern Jefferson, Boulder and Larimer counties.

The wind may make travel tough at times on places like Highway 93, Interstate 70 and the Peak to Peak Highway.

Below are a few images of potential wind gusts by early Monday and Tuesday. These images are from a FutureCast wind model that was ran on Sunday morning.

If you live in the Front Range mountains and foothills be sure to secure outdoor furniture and other loose items that could potentially blow away once the high winds develop.
