Dozens Gather Outside Mosque In Show Of Support

By Rick Sallinger

DENVER (CBS4)- Dozens of people gathered outside a mosque in Denver on Thursday afternoon to show their support in a time they claim promotes hateful rhetoric and discrimination.

The demonstrators hoped to spread their message and speak out against ideologies that promote violence and division.

They gathered outside the Colorado Muslim Society at the Denver Mosque on South Parker Road.

This comes after backlash against members of the Islamic religion from acts of violence in Paris, San Bernadino and elsewhere.

This was similar to the massive gathering at the mosque in 2001 after the 9/11 attacks.

Participants also had the opportunity to tie a prayer ribbon on the gates of the Colorado Muslim Society fence, write cards of support and take part in a chant lead by Jamie Laurie, the lead singer of the Flobots.
