Light Freezing Drizzle May Accompany Thanksgiving Cold Blast

By Chris Spears

DENVER (CBS4) - Pay close attention to the weather if you have travel plans Wednesday night or early Thursday east of the Front Range Mountains.

An arctic front will blast into eastern Colorado sometime on Wednesday and behind it we'll see some of the coldest air so far this season.

Highs by Thursday and Friday will be in the teens and lower 20s along and east of the foothills.

The air mass that will be sliding into eastern Colorado is relatively shallow and that means while it may be cold enough for snow at the ground, initially, it might not be all snow in the clouds.

The result could be freezing drizzle or a mixture of freezing drizzle and snow in some areas before eventually changing over to all snow.

While we aren't expecting heavy precipitation we could still see travel troubles develop due to a wintry mix and very cold temperatures.
