3 Things You Didn't Know About Bronco Omar Bolden

CENTENNIAL, Colo. (CBS4) - Call him a returner, defensive back or just an All Around Football Guy -- just make sure you don't overlook explosive Omar Bolden if you're an opponent of the Denver Broncos.

Bolden is currently the Broncos designated kick returner, and the highlight of his season so far came in Week 9 against the Colts when he returned a punt 83 yards for a touchdown right before halftime, something a Bronco hadn't done since September 2013.

The special teams ace and member of the defensive secondary revealed several things during his guest appearance on Xfinity Monday Live that Broncos fans might not be aware of, and some of them are very interesting in light of the quarterback situation the Broncos have found themselves in. Here they are three things you didn't know about Omar Bolden:

1. He suffers from the same foot injury as Peyton Manning

Bolden missed three weeks this season with plantar fasciitis, the same foot problem Peyton Manning is struggling with.

"It's basically a sharp pain at the bottom of your foot, moreso towards your heel, and it feels like you're walking on glass every time you take a step," Bolden said.

He said the injury impacts football players when they have to change directions, but can be treated.

Bolden said rest should help Manning now that he has been told he won't play in the Broncos next game.

2. He played on the same college football team as Brock Osweiler.

"He's got great energy," said Bolden of his former college teammate at Arizona State University. "He's a true leader out there on the field. Guys definitely respect him out there. He obviously made a lot of plays in college. He's just waiting on his opportunity to make them here at this level."

Like Osweiler sitting behind Manning, Bolden says he also spent a fair bit of time being the backup to a legendary player.

"I don't think (Osweiler's 3-and-a-half years on the bench) is too frustrating. I came into a similar situation. When I came in, Champ Bailey was here, and coming into the league you want to learn as much as you can from great guys like that," Bolden said.

3. He has a charity called Positive Living, and he sees positives even after Sunday's loss.

"It's just a lifestyle and a movement that I want to encourage people to live by. I want people to live positive and look at the good things as opposed to the bad things in all situations," said Bolden of the charity, which can be found at OmarCBolden.com/positive-living.

When asked about what positives can come from Sunday's 29-13 loss to the Chiefs, he replied that "all our goals can still be accomplished. We're still 7-2. It's not the end of the world. The sky is not falling. Everything is okay. We're going to get it together."
