48 Denver Children Find New Home On National Adoption Day

DENVER (CBS4) - Nearly 50 children in Denver will get new parents and a new family. Wednesday is National Adoption Day and the city is celebrating with a ceremony at the court house.

It's Denver's 11th year of the event, and each year dozens of children are adopted. The goal is to highlight families taking in children and also bring awareness to those who still need a home.

Nationally, there are over 100,000 children in foster care looking for a permanent family. Almost 600 children have been adopted in Denver over the past decade.

The ceremony will begin at 9 a.m., where 48 children will be adopted by 32 families.

Denver Human Services has a website with more information on foster care and adoption.
