David Clifton Ministries Needs Help For Years Thanksgiving Dinner For The Homeless

DENVER (CBS4) - David Clifton Ministries says they need a little help to put on this year's Thanksgiving Outreach to Homeless and Denver's Needy Families that feeds 15,000 people.

According to Gene Little with David Clifton Ministries, the event will be held this Saturday in front of the Denver City and County Building located at 1248 Bannock Street from noon to 6 p.m.

"This marks the 20th year of this event to feed the hungry during Thanksgiving giving Hope to the Helpless. People showing up will be in the most desperate situations possible in need of help," Little said in a statement.

According to Little, it costs approximately $15,000 ($1 per person) to make the event happen, but they're short nearly $6,000 to pay for ovens and more than 2,000 chickens.

"Thankfully, King Soopers donated 700 turkeys which are being prepared by all the volunteers, but keeping the food warm at the event in order to serve hot meals requires the warming ovens," Little said.
