Girls Inc. Denver Gets Super Fun Premier

DENVER (CBS4)- It's a bird. It's a plane. It's "Supergirl" coming to the CBS4 on your television set. "Supergirl" is set to premiere on CBS on Monday, October 26. In anticipation of the highly touted show, CBS4 hosted a first screening of the pilot with a group from Girls Incorporate of Metro Denver.

"Did you like the show?" asked CBS4's Karen Leigh.

"Yeah, it was really good," replied Joliceana Montoya, a Girls Inc. Denver member.

Montoya was celebrating her 12th birthday as she and about 25 of her friends became some of the first people in the world to see "Supergirl." In the show, mild-mannered assistant Kara transformed into a superhero, complete with a cape. She's cousin to Superman and possess all the same superpowers including flying, super strength, stopping bullets and heat vision.

"I thought she was cool," said Ariyah Castro, a 12-year-old member of  Denver.

"I think we was like confined in a little box of normal and she just needed to be a little different," said 16-year-old Joyce Barcacel, also a member of Girls Inc. Denver.

The girls were captivated by the pilot episode. They found it funny, exciting, and inspiring.

"I think I should try to be more myself instead of being in a little box of normal," Barcacel told CBS4's Karen Leigh.

Before the premiere, the girls visited the CBS4 studios, talking news with some of the broadcasters and weather with the meteorologists. But all eyes were wide for the main attraction and local actress Melissa Benoist, who taped a special message for the Girls Inc. members.

At the end of the evening, the girls said that "Supergirl" is a show that they will watch.

"I thought it was good. I thought it was empowering girls to be the best they can be," Castro added.

"I look forward to watching it because it's a good inspiration to show girls that they can do anything they put their minds too," Montoya explained.

"Supergirl" debuts on CBS4 on Monday, October 26 at 7:30 p.m. right after "The Big Bang Theory."
