Police Say Driver Who Injured 2 In Kmart Crash Had Been Drinking

ARVADA, Colo. (CBS4) - Police in Arvada say the driver of a minivan that crashed into a Kmart causing injuries to two employees was driving under the influence.

According to Jill McGranahan with Arvada Police, and arrest warrant has been requested for Edward Wade Walton, 41, for two counts of vehicular assault DUI, two counts of vehicular assault reckless driving and a DUI.

Police say the Toyota Sienna Walton was driving hit the west Kmart wall at a high rate of speed, about 45 mph, and the vehicle hit two female employees inside the store. One was seriously injured.

"Officers arrived on scene to find that the vehicle had crashed through the cinder block wall and came to a stop approximately 70-75 feet inside of Kmart," McGranahan said in a statement.

Walton was also injured and taken to Denver Health.

The names of the two employee who were injured haven't been released.

Firefighters patched up the damage to the store.
