Korean War POW From Fort Lupton Being Laid To Rest

FORT LUPTON, Colo. (AP) — A Korean War POW from Colorado is being laid to rest nearly 65 years after disappearing.

A funeral for Cpl. Grant H. Ewing of Fort Lupton will be held Monday in Brighton followed by a burial with military honors in his hometown.

The Defense Department, which announced the identification of his remains earlier this month, says Ewing was reported missing in late November 1950 after the 2nd Infantry Division was attacked by Chinese forces.

His remains were included in 208 boxes of remains that North Korea turned over to the United States between 1990 and 1994. DNA from Ewing's brother helped identify him.

Ewing served in the Navy during World War II and started a hog business on his family's farm before enlisting in the Army when the Korean War started.
