CBS4’s Howard Nathan spoke with a woman who tried to save the man’s life. The woman worked with several others at the other end of a parking lot doing what they could to save the man’s life.

Police were sorting through numerous eyewitness accounts. One person they interviewed was Brittany Alshawy. She says she heard four to six shots near the laundry room and then found a man in pain in the parking lot.

“He just kept saying, ‘I can’t breathe, I can’t breathe, help me I can’t breathe,'” Alshawy said. “He kept rolling and rolling and he ended up taking his shirt off and you could see the bullet holes in his chest and his arm.”

Some of the residents on balconies ran to get towels to try to stop the bleeding.

“We got a bunch of towels and were trying to hold him down to try to get him to stop rolling and I was asking him, ‘Who shot you? Who shot you?’ And he didn’t saying anything; he just kept saying he couldn’t breathe,” Alshawy said.

Police believe at least one man and maybe a second attacked the victim.

“You could basically see he was dying in front of us,” Alshawy said.

The victim’s name hasn’t been released and police have not released any suspect information.
