Brewery Managers Say Victims Of Hit & Run Had Been Sleeping In Alley For Months

DENVER (CBS4) - The search continues for the driver involved in a deadly hit-and-run accident.

Two people were hit in an alley Friday night near Denver's River North Art District. The alley is right behind a popular brewery and staff who work there say they had just shut down for the night when a woman came banging at their door.

"She didn't know what was going on at first," Epic Brewery manager Julianna Hood said.

"She was very shocked," manager Taylor Miller said.

"Her boyfriend had just been hit by a car as they were sleeping in the alley behind the brewery," Hood said.

They say the couple had been sleeping there for several months.

"This isn't the first time I've called 911 for this couple," Miller said. "He's had some health issues, and so originally it was kind of like, 'Oh, just another 911 call.'"

But they quickly learned that the man had died from getting hit.

"This collision involved two pedestrians struck by a vehicle. One was pronounced deceased at the scene. The other pedestrian sustained minor injuries," Detective Chad Kuroda with the Denver Police Department said.

Police say the driver didn't stop. Investigators unfortunately have no suspect description. They say they are looking for a dark-colored truck.
