First Snow Of The Season Visible Along The Front Range
DENVER (CBS4) - Coloradans awoke to dusted peaks and snow-capped mountains along the Front Range on Wednesday for the first time this season.
Mount Evans, which closed for the season on Monday, Oct. 5, already received its first sprinkle of snow. There was snow on Longs Peak, as well as along the Continental Divide with new snow overnight at Arapahoe Basin and Loveland.
Arapahoe Basin said Tuesday was their coldest night yet, and their snowmaking kickoff is getting closer. Loveland is also waiting for temps to dip before making snow.
Copper Mountain began making snow over the weekend with overnight low temperatures in the 20s. Snow-capped peaks were also seen in Breckenridge Tuesday.
Moisture further south brought snow to the high elevations in the San Juan Mountains. Telluride received their first significant snow of the season on Tuesday, and several members of Silverton Mountain's ski patrol were able to test the slopes above 13,000 feet Tuesday morning.
