Puppy Caught On Video Being Abused By Owner Nearly Ready For Adoption

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (CBS4) - A puppy that was caught on video being abused by its owner in Colorado Springs will soon be available for adoption.

A woman witnessed a man kicking and throwing the 5-month-old pit bull and took video with her cellphone.

"As I was walking in the parking lot across the street, I saw him kicking the dog and start flinging him ... I started recording. A coworker of mine saw him choke the dog at one point. ... Every time the guy did something to him, the puppy came right back over. It didn't know what it was doing wrong," the woman said. "He's still a pup, so he's obviously been through some stuff. But hopefully with time and love, someone can help him change and give him a future."

The dog is recovering at the Humane Society of the Pikes Peak Region (HSPPR).

"We're letting him settle into the shelter life a little bit; we're going to start him on some behavior evaluations to see what the best placement for him might be," said Gretchen Pressley with HSPPR.

The dog's former owner, Seth Steinbecker, has been charged with animal cruelty.
