Parker Neighborhood In Shock After Teen Girl Kidnapped From Home, Assaulted

PARKER, Colo. (CBS4) - "It's just crazy. I can't even imagine," said Parker resident Jessica Sass.

Parker residents are still in disbelief after the kidnapping and assault of a 17-year-old girl.

"It's terrible. It's horrendous. Makes you look over your shoulder for sure," said neighbor Randy Sherbon.

Police say Monday around 8:30 p.m. the teenager had been home alone in the quiet Hidden River and Willow Park subdivision. A male she didn't know somehow got inside the home. She told police the man kidnapped her, placed something over her eyes, and took her to his car. There may have been other males with him.

"She's not sure. At least one, but possibly up to three," Parker Police Officer Dawn Cashman told CBS4's Tom Mustin.

Inside the car the men groped the teenager and someone tried to sexually assault her. An hour later the attackers dropped her off a mile from her home. She flagged down a resident, who called police. Cashman says the apparently random attack is alarming.

"She did not know these people. She did not know who would have done this. That's why we're reaching out to the public," Cashman said.

The teen suffered minor injuries. The attackers fled before police arrived. Officers have no vehicle or suspect descriptions, but are hoping nearby home surveillance cameras will provide some clues.

The neighborhood includes an elementary school, and numerous families -- a fact that resident Sass believes makes the crime even more horrifying.

"There are tons of kids in the neighborhood," said Sass. "They need to be caught. They need to go away for a long time."

And as police search for clues in a disturbing assault, Sass and her neighbors are hoping for justice.

"I just hope they catch these guys. That's awful. That's horrible. I hope the girl is okay," Sass said.
