Memorial Dedication In Colorado Springs For Firefighters

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (AP/CBS4) — A landmark to honor fallen firefighters from Canada and the United States was dedicated Saturday in Colorado Springs.

The International Association of Firefighters remembered 310 firefighters who lost their lives from over the past two years.

The reconstructed Fallen Fire Fighter Memorial includes 121 granite slabs that display more than 7,300 names dating back to 1918, including hundreds who died of illnesses such as cancer from exposure to toxins on the job.

"It's a brotherhood, a sisterhood, and for us, the spouses the family members, it just never stops.  They're just always there for you," said Georgina Mora, whose husband's name was added to the memorial.
