Making A Difference For Kids In 2 Minutes: Shopping Spree

DENVER (CBS4)- It's a shopping spree that changes the lives of children and lasts only two minutes.

CBS4's Britt Moreno teamed up with the Boys and Girls Clubs Director Julio Flores in a mission to make a difference in the lives of the younger generation in the Denver metro area.

They each grabbed a shopping cart and sprinted down the aisles at Sam's Club. It was part of a challenge to ensure each child at the Boys and Girls Clubs of Metro Denver stay warm this winter and that no child goes hungry.

Moreno and Flores tossed in computers, cameras and a printer. They also collected everything from winter coats to snacks to school supplies.

Austin-based marketing company Retail Me Not donated $15,000 to the Boys and Girls Clubs of Metro Denver where Flores was once a member. He says the children desperately need supplies.

"Our membership is $2 for a whole year and many of our families cannot pay $2 so we scholarship them. Having this opportunity is priceless," said Flores.

As the clock counted down the seconds Moreno and Flores crossed the finish line, both were out of breath until they tallied up the supplies and the total was more than $14,000.

Britt Moreno anchors the CBS4 morning and noon newscasts and is the Wednesday's Child reporter. She loves hearing from viewers. Connect with her on Facebook or Twitter @brittmorenotv.
