Debate Over Longtime Eaton Baseball Coach Continues

EATON, Colo. (AP) — The job status of a longtime high school baseball coach in the northern Colorado town of Eaton remains in limbo as debate from community members persists.

Parents, players and alumni of Eaton High School weighed in at a school board meeting Monday when members of the board decided not to vote on the renewal of Jim Danley's year-to-year contract.

Those in support of Danley, who has been Eaton's head coach for 44 years, said they consider him a father figure, while some parents of former and current players said Danley is too demanding.

The district recently issued Danley an improvement plan, which requires Danley to meet its conditions or be removed as head coach.

School board president Tim Croissant says the board is continuing to work toward a resolution.
