The crash occurred in the area of East 6th Avenue and South Picadilly Road just after 3:30 p.m. Thursday. That's east of Buckley Air Force Base. The road remained closed until 10 p.m.

Police said the black Saturn coupe ran a stop sign at East 6th Avenue and was struck by a westbound silver Toyota Camry. The impact caused the Saturn to flip over onto its roof before it came to a stop on the shoulder of the roadway.

Police said first responders cut a 7-year-old out of a child safety seat in the backseat of the Saturn. The child was taken by Life Flight to Children's Hospital with life-threatening injuries.
