Suspect In Chase Manages To Escape After Ditching Stolen Pickup In Golden

GOLDEN, Colo. (CBS4) - Authorities are searching for a man in Golden after late night chase on Tuesday.

According to Golden police, at approximately 11:30 p.m. officers were called to Clear Creek Canyon to assist Colorado State Patrol and Jefferson County deputies with stopping a pickup truck heading into Golden.

"Colorado State Patrol attempted to stop the truck for a traffic violation in the canyon. The truck failed to stop. Colorado State Patrol performed a maneuver in an attempt to stop the truck, which damaged the truck, however the driver continued driving into Golden," Jean Miller with Golden Police said in a statement.

The truck was abandoned in an alley near 19th and Illinois streets and the driver ran off.

The investigation revealed that the pickup was stolen out of Aurora.

"Golden Police did receive a call from a male stating his girlfriend who lives in the area sent him a message stating she believed someone was in her house," Miller said. "Officers did make contact with the female and searched her home; no intruder was located."

A CodeRed Alert was sent out to nearby residences warning people to lock their doors and stay inside.

Police weren't able to get a good description of the suspect. Anyone with information is asked to call police.
