Former Berthoud Officer Guilty Of Child Abuse Now Accused Of Sex Assault

BERTHOUD, Colo. (CBS4) - A former Berthoud police officer who pleaded guilty to child abuse is now facing new charges.

Jeremy Yachik, 39, is facing two counts of sex assault on a child. The Larimer County District Attorney's Office says Yachik subjected a minor to sexual contact five years ago.

Yachik is currently on probation. In 2014 he pleaded guilty to child abuse after a video surfaced that appears to show him kicking and hitting his daughter. The cover-up of the case led to the Berthoud Police Department being dissolved.

He is being held on $100,000 bond.
