Aurora Police Warn ATM Users Of Skimming Device
AURORA, Colo. (CBS4)- Police in Aurora are warning some ATM users after a skimming device was discovered at a convenience store last month.
Police located the skimming device on an ATM at The Corner Store located at 2601 S. Tower Road. It was removed on Aug. 18 and is unknown how long it has been there.
Anyone who used that ATM and found suspicious activity on their credit card can complete an online police report or call Fraud Intake Officer Larson at 303.739.6176.
Those who do not have suspicious activity on their card are asked not to make a report but pay attention to the activity on their credit card.

Skimming is a method used by criminals to capture data from the magnetic stripe on the back of an ATM card. These devices, referred to as "Skimmers", are smaller than a deck of cards and are often fastened in close proximity to, or over the top of the ATM's factory-installed card reader. ATM skimming is a world-wide problem.
