Cliff Palace At Mesa Verde In Danger Of Crumbling
MONTEZUMA COUNTY, Colo. (CBS4)- There is a big push to save one of Colorado's iconic sites the Cliff Palace at Mesa Verde.
The National Park Service says the structures are at risk of crumbling into the canyon below.
Mesa Verde is made up of ancient structures built by the Puebloans nearly 1,400 years ago.
Cracks on the structure indicate the cliff dwellings may not last much longer.
A federal grant will cover some of the restoration but the park needs more help. The Legacy Projects fund is asking for donations.
