Mike Bobo Seeking 'Balance' For CSU Rams Offense

FORT COLLINS, Colo. (CBS4) - The CSU Rams football team starts their season in a little over a week when the Savannah State Tigers come to play in Fort Collins, and it's not entirely clear what kind of a look the offense will have.

During practice on Thursday, head coach Mike Bobo said he is going to be flexible with his game planning for the offense.

Their starting quarterback is new this year (Nick Stevens), but they have one of the best wideouts in the country in Rashard Higgins. They have a good offensive line but no real star running backs.

"I think we've got talented backs to get the job done. At the end of the day we want to be balanced in attempts and passing and be able to have explosive plays -- both run and pass," Bobo said. "At the same time, we're going to play to our strengths, and if we feel like the receiving corps and the tight end core has a little bit more strength we might be a little bit tilted more pass to run."

"But we still have got to have balance. We're not going to be all throwing or all running."

The Rams face the Tigers at Hughes Stadium on Sept. 5. After that it's the Minnesota Golden Gophers on Sept. 12, then the Rocky Mountain Showdown against the CU Buffaloes at Sports Authority Field at Mile High on Sept. 19.
