VA Secretary To Disabled Vets: 'It Would Be Lunacy To Not Finish The Facility'
DENVER (CBS4)- Nearly 4,000 of America's wounded veterans gathered in Denver this weekend for the Disabled American Veterans National Convention where they heard from the Secretary of Veterans Affairs.
Secretary of Veterans Affairs Bob McDonald talked about the embattled VA Hospital on the Anschutz Medical Campus in Aurora.
"Nationally this is a huge issue. I mean, obviously with an over 30 percent increase in veterans in Colorado and a medical campus that's roughly 50 percent constructed, it would be lunacy to not finish the facility," said McDonald.
McDonald said the project is funded through the end of September but that more work needs to be done on a budget plan for the next fiscal year.
