Wheat Ridge Police Search For Missing Person With Alzheimer's

WHEAT RIDGE, Colo. (CBS4)- Police in Wheat Ridge searched for a missing woman on Saturday afternoon who walked away from a secure care facility for Alzheimer's.

Mary DeHerrera, 74, was seen leaving the Spring Ridge Park, 5361 West 26th Avenue in Wheat Ridge, a secure care facility for Alzheimer's patients, just after 2 p.m. She was seen about one minute later walking southeast towards the area of 26th Avenue and Ames Street.

Mary suffers from demenita/Alzheimer's but does know her name and speaks clearly. It may seem like she does not have dementia upon initial contact. Mary does not know her way back to the facility.

Mary's daughter, Brenda Duran, lives at 8946 West Dartmouth Place in Lakewood. Mary may attempt to find her way to Brenda's home.

Mary is described as 5-foot-2, 105 pounds with brown hair and brown eyes. She was last seen wearing black pants, a purple jacket, black and white checkered or striped shirt with a black purse.
