Family Finds Grenade While Cleaning Out House

DENVER (CBS4) - A Denver family was cleaning their house of a deceased former resident's belongings when they came across hazardous chemicals and a grenade.

The house on East Dartmouth Avenue near the Wellshire Golf Course previously belonged to a former University of Colorado chemist. The family had been cleaning out the house when they came across what may have been a live grenade.

The Denver Bomb Squad removed the device. They have not yet confirmed whether the grenade was still active.

No one was injured and no evacuations had to be made.
