Theater Shooting Jury Won't See Holmes Talk About 'Shadows'

CENTENNIAL, Colo. (AP) - Jurors in the Colorado theater shooting trial won't see James Holmes talk in a video about being afraid of shadows he saw at a hospital four months after the attack.

Holmes' attorneys tried to show jurors a video of Holmes talking about hiding under sheets at a Denver hospital because he saw "shadows." The defense is wrapping up their argument that Holmes is not guilty by reason of insanity.

But Judge Carlos A. Samour Jr. ruled the video inadmissible because prosecutors wouldn't be able to cross-examine Holmes. The judge says if Holmes wants to talk about seeing shadows, he should take the stand.

The defense is tying up its case with a psychiatrist who concluded Holmes was insane during the 2012 attack that killed 12 people and injured 70. Closing statements are expected next week.
