State Issues Another Wildfire Smoke Health Advisory

DENVER (CBS4/AP) — Smoke from Canadian wildfires is lingering over Colorado on Wednesday, and a smoke advisory for areas east of the Continental Divide is once again in effect on Wednesday.

The haze wasn't affecting air traffic at Denver International Airport the way it did to a small degree on Tuesday, but it was limiting visibility in the Denver metro area.

A wildfire smoke health advisory for those areas is in effect until 9 a.m. Thursday.

Christopher Dann of the state's air pollution control division said small particles of debris from the fires that is in the air poses the biggest threat to people with lung disease, older adults and children.

Those groups are urged to limit prolonged or heavy exertion especially in areas where the visibility is less than five miles.

Rain expected later in the day should help clear out the haze.
