Family Research Council On Same-Sex Marriage: 'Court... Can't Make It Moral'

DENVER (CBS4)- Critics of Friday's Supreme Court decision on legalizing same-sex marriage have strong opinions about how it will impact the future of this country.

The Family Research Council, according to its website, is a Christian public policy ministry in Washington D.C. defending religious liberty, the unborn & families.

A local representative with the organization spoke to CBS4 after the ruling was announced.

"The court can make it right but it can't make it moral and you have a large segment of the population, about half, that is just not going to accept this. The court, in this case, undermines its legitimacy. I do not think they have, and many Americans do not think they have, the authority to redefine something that's been in existence since almost the beginning of time," said Family Research Council spokesman Tony Perkins.

The Supreme Court's ruling does not take effect immediately, the court gives the losing side three weeks to ask for reconsideration.
