Parents Growing Pot Learn Sentence For 3-Year-Old Who Tested Positive For THC

DENVER (CBS4) - The parents of a 3-year-old who were growing marijuana have been sentenced after their toddler tested positive for THC and had to be treated at a hospital.

According to Lynn Kimbrough with the district attorney's office, Mario Hollerway, 33, pleaded guilty earlier to possession of a controlled substance and child abuse. He was sentenced Monday to 2 years of supervised probation, 60 days in jail served as in-home detention, and 50 hours of community service.

Alysia Lombard, 26, pleaded guilty earlier to child abuse. She was sentenced on May 20 to 18 months of supervised probation and was ordered to take parenting classes and participate in a drug treatment program.

On Nov. 13 the couple's 3-year-old daughter was diagnosed at a hospital with marijuana ingestion. According to court documents, Hollerway said her daughter "was laying on the couch and not acting normal." She was rushed to Rose Medical Center where she "threw up at the hospital" and "tested positive for marijuana."

Further investigation by police revealed an illegal amount of marijuana and suspected crack cocaine in the family home.

Lombard told police she "makes her own edibles" but said "weed is not even accessible to her."
