EAGLE COUNTY, Colo. (CBS4)– One person has died and another seriously injured in a small plane crash at Eagle County Regional Airport on Friday.

The small plane crashed about 4:50 p.m. Friday during the landing. Airport officials say the Rebel experimental aircraft made impact with the runway then went airborne again before crashing into the hangar about 1,000 feet south of the runway.

The injured person was rushed to Vail Valley Medical Center. The identity of the deceased has not been released.

The runway at the airport reopened after the crash cleanup and investigation.

The National Transportation Safety Board and Federal Aviation Administration has taken over investigation of the crash.
